[Opinions] Piper
Opinions on Piper for a girl? Getting too trendy? I used to really dislike it, it makes me think of loud and annoying pipes, but I met a cute little Piper and it has grown on me somewhat. Still wouldn't use it but I'd like to hear your opinions.

Cousin named her baby this.I hate it so much. It's so "little girly" and "cute" I don't see how in the hell its gonna sound good when she's 23.

ITA with RoxStar's description of it as "Disney-esque."
It's Hollywoody and not pleasant at all IMO.
I think of men becoming fathers for the first time, who misplace their protective instinct and fears about fathering girls, into naming their daughters something unfeminine.
Pepper is a better name than Piper.
Not the worst name ever, but pretty bad.

I don't care for it at all, sorry. "One who pipes" is what I get from it which makes me think of someone who's always whining and complaining.

I don't like it. First of all, in Swedish it's present tense of "pipa", to squeak. So "Lily Piper" means "Lily squeaks" in Swedish! :) (Piper (pr. PEE-pehr) is also a noble family here in Sweden.)
Secondly, I think of the Pied Piper who....drowned children, didn't he?

That's just it: Piper is "little and cute" times 8, to the point of cartoonishness. It's just so Disney-esque. It sounds like a name chosen for a character in a game where the specifics for that character are: "She's nine years old, pigtails, giggles a lot, loves to read, wants a unicorn for her birthday, her best friend is a boy named Snoopy and they like to chase rainbows together."

I really hate it. It doesn't even sound like a name to me.

I think it's a bit trendy, like Harper. It is a family name for us, but we used it on our dog. It's adorable on her.

I used to really dislike Piper, too. I even met a little girl named Piper whom I really disliked as well. It's really awful of me to say I dislike any child. Really, I love children. I had my reasons. But once I got to know her, I ended up realizing that the things I disliked about her weren't her fault, and I ended up having a total soft spot for her. The name grew on me, too.So long story short, I experienced pretty much the same thing as you. I wouldn't use the name either, but I still think it's sweet. This girl's name was Piper Rose, and even though the Rs kind of blend together, I thought the combo was cute.

I don't really care for it. I think of "pay the piper". However, I must admit that little Piper Palin is adorable.
