Help[Opinions] Blake ... ?
Does Blake sound masculine enough for a boy these days?
I was thinking the name Max fit my needs, but I am second-guessing it now since I remembered that my SO's brother's cat is named Max. We do see his family often and my SO lived with them for a while, so it may be hard to overcome the "pet name" association there.
So, Blake is a new top contender.
We both like the poet Blake but don't care much for the association with country music (Blake Shelton?)
Any thoughts about Blake Charles? How about paired with Zoe as a sister name?

Absolutely. Blake is a great, masculine name.
Blake Charles is ok but I personally prefer Charles Blake. It flows better in my opinion.

Blake and Zoe are great together! I definitely think it is masculine enough - not sure why there is doubts here - I don't know the association with country music (America? Australian?) Blake Charles is nice but I would learn towards a longer middle name: Blake Christopher, Blake Jeremiah, Blake Theodore for example. :)

I'm not a big Blake fan, sorry. It reminds me of a cheesy soap opera character -- Blake Carrington of "Dynasty."
I love Zoe and it's a shame about Max. Zoe and Max would be perfect together. I don't suppose Zoe and Magnus, nn Max, could work? Zoe and Rex? Zoe and Blaise? Zoe and Tate? Zoe and Shane?

Blake works. It's very similar to Max stylistically, but will probably age better.
I associate it more with the poet than Blake Shelton (I actually don't know who Blake Shelton is... :P) but I mostly just think of the sound.
Blake goes with Zoe. Blake Charles works (and makes it seem more like he was named for the poet, because Charles is classic sounding).

I think Blake sounds masculine enough, although I think it's a bit dated now. At least it seems that way to me. I imagine a Blake to be between the ages of 18-30. Definitely don't use Max if there is a strong association with a cat, I'd be bothered by that if it were my son.
I don't immediately think of Blake Shelton when I hear the name...there are too many Blake's in the world to make a strong association to him imo so I wouldn't worry about it. Blake Charles is a nice combo, goes well with Zoe.
