Help[Opinions] British names
I love british names lately, especially Jack, Harry, and Sophie. WDYT? Also, what are your favourite British names? I'm hoping to discover more of them. Thanks!

Huh, I don't think any of them are especially British. I guess they're more popular in the UK than America but Jack and Sophie are both popular in the US too. I don't know if you know, this site has the top 100 names for England/Wales, Scotland and Ireland, maybe you'd find that interesting:

A lot of names that are more popular in the UK also happen to be ones I dislike, like Harriet, Matilda, Imogen, Poppy, Millie, Oliver, Liam, Connor. The only one I can think of that I like is Georgia but that's popular in other places too. Maybe Flora / Florence. Alfie gets a lot of hate but it's not too bad, it's almost cute.
Anyway. Jack is nice, a bit dull, whatever. I like it and I think Jackie is really cool on a boy.
Harry I don't like, it's just not a great sound and it feels more like a nickname than Jack. It feels kind of like all those other dated Gary / Larry / Barry names except really popular.
Sophie is nice. I love Sophia, it's beautiful, but Sophie is more subdued and has less spark. I imagine a Sophie as quieter and more studious than a Sophia although I know plenty of Sophies and none of them have been like that.

Haha I always think of Lottie as like, a Victorian servant. Probably because I read that Jacqueline Wilson book The Lottie Project when I was younger.

Jack is boring as Hell. Harry is only British because of the Prince, I see it more as French/American. And Sophie is also French.
I live in Britain, and I'm pretty sure we have mostly the same names as they do in America, so what makes them ours?
But anyway: I like Elizabeth, and Caroline. Are these British?

This is exactly what I mean by definition of British name. I'm British and even I have no clue!
Out of interest, what does Caroline seem to you, because I think of atristocrisy which is totally British in my mind. :)

I live in Britain so I don't really have a list of specifically "British" names, because they're just names! (I do have names which I consider distinctly American though!)

I love British names and highly recommend the book 'Beyond Charles & Diana: An Anglophile's Guide to Baby Naming' by bLinda Rosenkrantz and Pamela Redmond Satran! I just recently bought this book and it tells all the quintessential British names, royal names and all kinds of other things. It points out that a lot of the names we think of as "British" came from other countries as Britain's culture merged or expanded with other nationalities (Vikings, Norman Conquest, Hanover kings, etc.) .
A lot of my favorites could be considered British so I'll just give you a few that I like.
