[Opinions] Re: Nolwenn
in reply to a message by Bear
Just to be super-clear, it's pronounced NOHL-win, right? Hm.... I might go super girly, since Nolwenn doesn't sound very feminine to me.
Nolwenn Alessandra
Nolwenn Amadea
Nolwenn Elisabetta
Nolwenn Christianne
Nolwenn Gabriella
and the like

I've always assumed it was pronounced that way. But I admit I've never heard it spoken. Let's just do it your way until someone correct us, OK? :-)I'm loving Nolwenn Gabrielle, because Nolwenn reminds me of Noël. And Nolwenn Amadea / Amedea is enchanting! Thanks. :-D

I think it's more nol-WEN, but I don't speak Breton, so I really don't know.

Check out Frollein Gladys' response below. It gives the Breton pronunciation. I suppose in French the stress would be more on the second syllable, as you say. Thanks for reminding me. :-)

I've found this example of the Breton pronunciation: http://de.forvo.com/search/nolwenn/br/And this one for the French pronunciation:
http://de.forvo.com/search/nolwenn/fr/... and I can't vouch for neither of them ;)
Other than that I just got a French name book, and now I really feel like toying with Nolwenn combos ;)
