[Opinions] Amara
I really like Amara, but I'm worried it sounds too made up or just like a combination of pretty sounds. That it's forgettable in a way. What do you think?I'm asking because I've always found names such as Alina, Alia, Aleah, Amaya pretty forgettable, they don't stay with you because they combine common sounds and just don't sound very unique. I feel that Amara is different because Mara is not that common but I'd like to know what you think. Also do you pronounce it ah-MAH-ra or ah-MAIR-a?

I love Amara and really like Mara also. I wish my cousin Anna had been named Mara, Anna with the mn Elizabeth is too boring. Mara would have suited her better as well.

I think it's really pretty. I say ah-MAH-ra.

I love the name and at this time I'm planning to use this name as a mn for a future DD. I just asked about it the other day with combos actually! Obviously I find it lovely, but it would also honour the three living great-grandmothers, so that makes it extra special. I don't think it's forgettable. I pronounce it ah-MAH-ra. The mah bit is pronounced like car, not care.

I love Amara (ah-MAH-ra). I don't really care for ah-MAIR-a. I hadn't thought of Amara as seeming forgettable, but I can understand your concern. Even well-known names can be confused with other names (Jennifer being called Jessica, etc.), but some names definitely seem easier to forget than others. I think there would be fewer issues with Amara than Amaya since Mara isn't very popular unlike Maya. Then again, unusual names in general can be more difficult to remember, but Amara isn't that complicated. I think that most people would be able to catch on.
