I really didn't notice the Arya Aryan connection, I've been reading the series A Song of Ice and Fire and it has never crossed my mind. Truthfully I hardly ever see or hear the word Aryan and I don't feel that Aryan is a negative word though Indo-Iranian is the more common term now or sometimes Indo-Aryan. Nazi's idolized the Aryans but nothing is actually wrong with "Aryans" or being proud of your heritage unless it is used as an excuse to hate everyone else who isn't Indo-Aryan.
Plus Arya is pronounced like Aria even though I did at first think it was AHR-yah, it is supposed to be AHR-ee-ah in the book. I prefer the spelling Aria since it is more intuitive but I think Arya is a good spelling.
I do recommend reading the series, beautifully written the author does a great job expressing the voice of many very different characters. It is a great series even if it is terribly predictable. I haven't watched the show but I hear that it is also good.
