[Opinions] Why do most people pick rhyming names for their twins? Why?
in reply to a message by Elizabeth
It's bloody awful. And then most of them proceed to dress them in the same clothes and the like as well. Why? It seems these people do everything possible to undermine those children's own identity, their own sense of self. They're separate persons of their own, not one being like the Borg from "Star Trek". Do those people ever think about that, do they ever even get past the stage of "Ooooh, it's sooo cute!!!"? Also, do those people even consider that telling the twins apart will be difficult enough as it is for people, but rhyming names are only going to make that worse?
If I ever had any twins, I would make sure they both had very different names and never do things like dress them the same and the like. Also, my maternal grandmother is one of twins (she has a twin brother), and fortunately my great-grandparents had the good sense to give them both very different names. My grandmother's name is Mariet, her brother's name is Ton. Both are old-fashioned names and not the prettiest ones, but at least they are different from each other.
