Like I own a. Iona Carr, I ona House. I don't like it at all.
I think the pronunciation you're using is more suited for the name Ayanna or Aiyana.

I love Iona, but only pronounced "eye-OH-na."

Iona is eye-oh-na, like the island in Scotland where the name actually comes from. I think it's really beautiful, I have close family ties to Scotland and my mum loves that island so it's a definite possibility for me to use one day. It's spunky and unusual, but pretty simple.

I say it "eye-OH-nah." I think it's nice, but there is the slight problem of it sounding exactly like "I own a..." But that's not really a huge deal. I like Ione even better.

I've always pronouced it eye-own-a, and I think its a beautiful name. Its different from a lot of the frilly girly names we hear so often. I would love to use it for a character name.
