A sonnet is a 14 line poem, best known because of Shakespeare's affinity for writing poetry in that form. That's what I think when I hear 'sonnet'. Not a name. A type of poem. I personally don't think it sounds good as a name either - it's sort of funny (like, weird) but not in a way where it could still be a name imo. edit: I haven't learned any Shakespeare since high school and was having major problems typing his name :P lol

Hmm...that's interesting, I think I rather like it, it reminds me of Shakespeare and of the name Lyric. Because it reminds me of Shakespeare I'd say it's more masculine and it ends in a T which is a bit harder, though several girls names do end in -ette which sounds like the -et here. I guess it's more of the Son- part that makes it more masculine to me. Image hosting by Photobucket

Female because sonnets make me think of poetry and romance, which are more feminine things than masculine things.
