What's your impression of Signe (SING-neh) ?
It's my grandmother's middle name, and I'm just starting to warm up to it. In the past, I've preferred Sigrid, but if I ever have a daughter I would love to honor my grandmother by using one of her names. I'm a bit curious about Signe's impression outside Sweden/Scandinavia though. :)

I love the way it looks and I really want to like it, but I have trouble pronouncing it.

It looks very pretty, though I think it would work best on someone of Scandinavian background.

My maternal grandfather had a sister named Signe. I never met her as she died before I was born. The name is okay but it makes me think of an older person.

I like it. My best friend from preschool was named Signe (although she pronounced it SIG-nee-- probably an Americanized pronunciation).
I like Sigrid too, but I actually think Signe works better on someone for any age. Sigrid is harder to imagine on a young child.
Where I am, it would probably be seen as an uncommon name that isn't 'frumpy' or unpopular, and therefore interesting and refreshing.

I rather like it. I know a Signe who says SIG-nuh and I've always found that ugly, but SING-neh is nice.

Signe has grown on me lately. I was re-watching a Finnish/Swedish movie (Äideistä parhain) the other night and one of the characters' names was Signe. :-)

My father's grandmother was named Signe Albertina. :)
I've gotten more and more fond of it lately, I could definitely use it. Though I just discussed it with my mother an hour ago (she brought it up) - her mother's cousin was named Signe and she just can't fathom why anyone would name their baby such an old lady name.

My Mom thinks the same about my niece's name, Emma.

I went to school with a girl named Signe. She pronounced it "sig-nee". She honestly left a bad impression on the name for me.
