You probably all know lots of people with these names. Could you tell me how many of the ones you know go by the nicknames I listed? Do they go by the nickname all of the time, most of the time or just sometimes?
I like some of these nicknames as full names, Sam in particular. Sam is not common on its own but it is a nickname for Samuel and I'm trying to figure out how popular it really is. My guess is that lots of guys named Samuel go by Sam but maybe I'm wrong. With James I like the full name but none of the nicknames for it.

I'm just wondering how many you know and what their full names are.

Samuel- I only know two, and they both go by Sam all the time.
Jessica- my name is Jessica, and I have a close friend named Jessica as well. We both go by Jess all the time. When I was little, people called me Jessie, but the only ones who do now are my young cousin and my 5 year old sister.
James- I've known four, and they all go by Jim all the time.
Allie- I only know one, my roommate Alexandra. Sometimes she goes by Allie,sometimes by Alex, but I only ever call her Allie.

Samuel...I don't know any. I did know one in primary school though and he went my Sam
Jessica...I have known/know a few. Most of them go by Jess, my cousin gets called Jess or Jessie.

Samuel - I know one, but he goes by Sam all the time. Actually, his name might just be Sam.
Jessica - I know heaps, one goes by Jessie. Most (like basically all the others) go by Jess.
James - I know heaps, and they all go by just James (well, one gets called Jimmy by his mum). I know one Jamie, but his name isn't James.
Allie - I know at least four. One is called Alex (just Alex), and that's what she usually goes by, one is called Alexandra, one is called Allison, and she spells it Ally, and the other is Alison, and she spells it Ally too. The last two go exclusively by Ally.
Jessica - I know heaps, one goes by Jessie. Most (like basically all the others) go by Jess.

Not sure how many I know. I don't know any who go by Samuel.

I know too many to count, and I don't know all of their full names. I'm going to include other spellings here too like Ally, Aly, and Ali. The full names of Allies I've met include Allyson, Allison, Alynne, Alyssa, Alena, and Alessa.

Atm I know two Sams who were named Samuel but are never called it, as far as I know.
Three Jessicas (one of whom is the sister of one of the Sams!), all three of which are usually Jess and occasionally Jessica - haven't heard them called Jessie at all.
I know A LOT of Jameses. There are at least two Jimmys, three Jamies, 6? Jims and three who are always James.
Don't know anyone called Allie with that spelling, think it's more common in the US. I know two Alis who are short for Alison and one who is Alistair.

Well, I've met a few Samuel and Samantha who went by Sam pretty consistently. Jessica's I know were just Jessica, but were in non-English speaking countries were nns aren't used as much. I know one middle aged James who's always called Jimmy and used to know another younger one who was James always. Don't think I've ever met an Allie, not that I remember.

I know many Samuel's and they all go by Sam exclusively. I don't know any Jessica's that go by Jessie, however I do know two that go by Jess. I know two James' and neither of them go by any nickname. I think Jim is a bit old-fashioned. I only know old men named Jim. I know one Allie and its a nickname for Allison.
