Help[Opinions] Kazimir
We would like to name our son Kazimir (no middle name, he would have a traditional Russian patronym). i'm wondering if it would seem out of place in America even if he is half-Russian. What do you think? Also, is it better spelled Kasimir or Kazimir?

I like Kasimir more.
I'd say yes, it would be out of place in America, but really it depends on where you live. America is a melting pot. I've encountered stranger names in the Bible Belt! Maybe mid-west it would seem strange but on the coasts not so much. But I've never really been mid-west so that's a guess.

I'm from the Midwest, and it does seem strange to me, but it also feels more Polish than Russian, and my area has a large Polish-American community (but more third/ fourth generation by now). The Polish center is Pulaski, named after Kazimierz Pulaski, the Pole turn general in the Continental Army during the Revolution, so I think of him when I see/ hear the name.

Kazimir would be wonderful. Love it. I'm in the U.S. and he would fit in well. We have a large Russian ex-pat community where I live, but I still think Casimir is well enough known all over so the Kazimir spelling won't be that big of a deal.
As far as spelling, I prefer Kazimir over Kasimir. Kasimir makes me think of cashmere sweaters whereas Kazimir is more manly looking. The strong "z" matches the hard "K," if that makes sense.
