[Opinions] Re: Jeanne
I like Jeanne, but I prefer Jean. In my head Jeanne has the French "zhan" pronunciation. But in real life (in the U.S.) I would assume it was pronounced the English way, "jeen." Sometimes I've heard Jeanne pronounced (in the U.S.) as if it were Jeanie. I really dislike that. Jeanie is darling, but trying to make French Jeanne into a Scottish nn just makes my brain hurt.

I run into this tangle every now and then; my name is Jean, and as I live in a French-speaking area, it's occasionally thought that
-1.I have a male name,or
-2.I'm not me, as for example, when I present a cheque at the bank, the teller asks,"Is this your husband? Or your son?"If I spelled the name Jeanne, I'd avoid all this, but my name is as my parents gave it to me, and that's how it will stay.
