Borna is from my neck of the woods (quite popular here), so one of his parents is probably from here (or they used it to honor someone who is).

I'm pretty sure there's no Vilya in Sagan om Isfolket.
Like I said to Sigrid, I found 87 different spellings of Violet/Vajlet in the Swedish census for 1970 ...
The parents didn't have Japanese names, so it seems more likely they just liked Sakura.

I managed to find 87 (!) spellings of Violet/Vajlet in the Swedish census for 1970 (I figured there might be more alive then than now). And they complain about creative spellings now ...

Yup. Parents in the 1930s and 40s, when the name peaked in Sweden, were just as bad as today's parents. I think all of these are supposed to be Violet:

I can't help but admire the parents who thought of the fantastic Vaeijlert.
It would have been in the top 200 somewhere, I think (that would be a top list including both first and middle names because I can't separate them). I don't know why ... Sounds like it would have come from some American movie star or the like, but I don't know of any?
I like to think that the oddly spelled Violets (born 60-80 years ago) named their daughters odd spellings of Madeleine (which was given many interesting spellings 20-50 years ago), and that the oddly spelled Madeleines now name their daughters odd spellings of Hailey (the current name-of-many-spellings).
