[Opinions] Avis
WDYT of Avis?I was looking up Anna Leonowens yesterday and read that she had a daughter named Avis. I'm intrigued. I always assumed it was a modern surname-as-firstname thing, but apparently not - it's Medieval.

There's some company called Avis, so it reminds me of that. I am, however, quite partial to Mavis.

Huh. Hm. I almost like it. But still no. Actually, on a boy it might almost work. But it's a car rental company around here.

Avis is a car rental company, so that it my first thought. Secondly, I think of birds.
I think it has a nice enough sound, but I don't really like it that much.

It's definitely not a modern name, and it hasn't been popular for a very long time, if ever. I doubt that it will turn into the "fresh" alternative to Ava either, because of the rental-car company.

It's the Latin word for 'bird' so it sounds a bit strange to me. I kind of like it, but I'd never use it.
