[Surname] Schallmo surname
I saw an archived entry with Schallmo and someone looking for information. The name Schallmo appears to be German. Most with this spelling lived in Bavaria not far from the border of France. With the shifing borders between the two countries somone else indicated this name might have had a french origin, however I have not found any indication of this. My ancestors who settled in Stark County were German and spoke that language.

Hello David ,
my Name is Schallmo, too. I`m living in Germany, near the French border, in a town called HOMBURG. Our Anchestors came from France in the year 1865 from Alsace-Lorraine to the County of Rheinland-Pfalz into a town named "Lauterecken". Thias is the town, where my grandpa is born- and my father too. Their names were Jacob Schallmo and Emil Schallmo (Dad). If You Like, please contact : Schally6@aol.com.

I can't find the name anywhere, but it looks like SALOMO to me. Any better guesses?
