[Opinions] What Could "Rye" Be a Nickname For?
I wrote a modern fantasy/adventure story some years ago, with the main character being a ten-year-old that went by "Rye." Rye was adopted by a rich couple named Michael and Rose Brass, who already had quadruplets of their own (Allison, Samuel, Leonardo, and Katrina), but his real parents were Eric and Stella, both of whom are dead at the story's beginning (Eric through unknown circumstances, Stella through childbirth).Originally, his name was to have been Teivel (weird, I know), and Rye would have changed it to what he has now when he runs away from home. But now I'd like to have a name that Rye could be a nickname for. Nothing from Welsh or Gaelic like Rhys, though. I really don't prefer those kind of names.

Ryan and Brian where the first two that came to mind. Riley would be good too. What about Reinhard?

Well, obviously Riley. I knew a little girl named Riley. Everyone called her "Rye-rye," "Rye," and "Ham on Rye." Well, only her dad called her the last one. And RoxStar gave some pretty good suggestions that I didn't think of, like Brian and Ryan.

Oh, and Reiner. There was a kid named that who went to my school.

Well if it's a fantasy, why can't he just be named Rye, or some variation of that?
Ryan? Riley? Ryne? Brian? Ryder?

The fantasy is set in modern day....Well, not modern day. More around 2005-2006-ish. Hmm...I do like Ryan and Brian...
