[Opinions] What Could "Rye" Be a Nickname For?
I wrote a modern fantasy/adventure story some years ago, with the main character being a ten-year-old that went by "Rye." Rye was adopted by a rich couple named Michael and Rose Brass, who already had quadruplets of their own (Allison, Samuel, Leonardo, and Katrina), but his real parents were Eric and Stella, both of whom are dead at the story's beginning (Eric through unknown circumstances, Stella through childbirth).
Originally, his name was to have been Teivel (weird, I know), and Rye would have changed it to what he has now when he runs away from home. But now I'd like to have a name that Rye could be a nickname for. Nothing from Welsh or Gaelic like Rhys, though. I really don't prefer those kind of names.
