[Opinions] Brandt/Brant
WDYTO this name? They're both pronounced the same. I prefer Brandt, but I don't know if it looks too weird because of the unnecessary 'd'. There's something about the look of Brandt that appeals to me, but I don't know if it'd be dumb to make a simple name complicated. Which spelling do you prefer?I made a poll on it yesterday and I'm actually kind of shocked that it's split down the middle with 50% of people preferring Brandt and 50% preferring Brant. I expected Brant to win by a landslide.

Eh, it reminds me of Russell Brand. I'm not really a fan of either for that reason. However, if I were to choose I think I would go with Brandt. Brant looks like is is missing something and my eye wants to make it into brat.

Haha the Russell Brand association doesn't bother me - I like the guy. I feel like most people wouldn't even make it. Aggghh... Brant the brat! Dammit. Never thought of that.

Brant is my nephew's middle name. Fn Aaron. I don't care much for Brant. I think of it as an overwrought, trendy name. I don't know how else to explain it. Brant seems artificial.Brandt seems more weighty.

Hmm, I never thought of Brant as a trendy name. I see what you mean though. I didn't realize until I just checked now that it didn't even crack the top 1000 until 1950 and seemed to peak in the '70s.

Brant / Brandt always makes me think of the character from The Goonies, Brand. I used to love that movie.I prefer Brandt, personally. It seems more collected and complete. The '-dt' also makes it feel a bit German to me (like Arndt), which appeals.
Brant, on the other hands, strikes me as empty and more boyish (in a bad way), less likely to "grow up" with the bearer; it isn't as professional, or even as attractive. There is something smokey and ambitious in the name Brandt that Brant just does not share.

Brand is a pretty cool name too. I think the fact that it's an everyday word throws me off though. Brandt/Brant seems more like a name to me. Thanks for the input! "Smokey and ambitious"...I like that!
