Sofie and her boyfriend Luke had a beautiful daughter -- Nora. The pregnancy was unexpected, seeing as both Luke and Sofie are half way through degrees. Luckily, Luke's older sister lives in the area and helps care for the baby when needed (Luke and Sofie are away at college). Most of the family has yet to meet Nora, and are excited to be seeing her at New Years. Luke is studying accounting and Sofie is studying to be a nurse.
Tony's best friend Riley, after a whirlwind summer romance, found herself pregnant with the baby of a college sophomore. The baby's father wanted no part in raising him, and when Tony found out, he swore he would do right by Riley and Dylan. The two have since started dating and the family has accepted them with open -- if slightly shaky -- arms. Tony is attending the local state university, an hour away, and comes home every weekend to check up on them. Riley is currently at a community college, but will be moving out to live with Tony when second semester begins. Tony is studying biochemistry and Riley is studying psychology.
Maya and Drew both attend out of state universities. They are at different schools, but their schools are only half an hour apart so they get together almost every week to reminisce and check in on each other. Maya has begun dating Charlie, a sophomore business student. She herself is a journalism student and Drew is studying law. Drew has made plenty of friends but no girlfriends yet, much to his despair.
Nate and Anna miss having their siblings home -- within two years four of their siblings have left the house and two have had babies. Although they see Tony, Riley, and baby Dylan often, they miss the other family members. Nate and Anna have grown closer due to this.
