It’s been two years since Tobias was born. How are things with the family? Abbey is expecting again. Abbey’s labour progresses quickly, and the new baby – a girl – is born before she can make it to the hospital! Where’s the baby born?
One of the partners is laid off and out of work for six months. How does the family cope?
Tobias has grown rapidly into a fun-loving, curious little toddler who is doted on by his parents, grand parents, aunties and uncles. He loves the attention and isn't sure about the prospect of having a younger sibling. When Abbey goes naturally into labour - which is a relief after Tobias - things progress quicker than expected and little Rosie makes an appearance into the world, not in a hospital, but in... A country pub! Abbey and Jack were taking a taxi to the hospital with Jack not having a car and other family members at work, still 8 miles from the nearest hospital, Abbey demanded they pull over into the nearest building car park - which just happened to be a public house. The owners there took care of Abbey in the back room while Jack was talked through the process by a professional on the phone. Mother and baby were absolutely fine! Rose weighed 7lb 2oz and paramedics arrived exactly 6 mins after the birth.
In other news: three months prior to Rose's birth, Jack's bosses gave him the shove when the local council cut the area's social services, for Jack is was a case of first in - first out and he got made redundant. This wasn't such a bad thing for the family as it meant that Jack got to look after Abbey in her last trimester and help out with Rose for the first three months. Six months after being made redundant, Jack gets a call from a neighbouring council asking him to go and work for them on their Child Protection Team. He accepts, and although it means one Hell of a commute each day, Jack and Abbey are just happy that he is working again.
