As long as ten years after Eoin's birth, it was revealed that Rory had had an affair with another woman and they had a child together. Alba was completely heart broken, Rory had been her first boyfriend and love. Unable to forgive him they separated. Alba has yet to be with anyone steady since. Also feeling betrayed, Magnus chose to change his surname to his mother's.
