[Opinions] Lena
What do you think about the name Lena? I met a young woman with this name this week and when I was talking about her my fiancé fell all over himself about what a cool name this was. He even said "when we have a daughter can we call her Lena?" (he had a similar reaction to Max) I think it's a great name when I think about it, I had just never considered it before.
Do you think it's too short to stand on its own? Any middle name suggestions? Thanks!

Thank you. I'm pretty partial to him myself :)
LAY-na? or LEE-na? Either way, I think it could stand on its own.
However, you could also use
Alena
Elena
Helena
Kalena
Madalena
Magdalena
Malena
Marilena
Milena
Olena
with the nickname Lena.
On a related note: My cousin named her daughter Lina this summer. I think it works.
I love that your fiance has such strong feelings about names....two namenerds getting married! :)

It's my nickname, so in my biased opinion, it is a little too short to stand on its own. I've also seen it used as a nickname for Madalena, but never on its own (it probably wouldn't even be allowed here).

I like it a lot. When I was younger I had some characters named Lena "Lee-na", now I like Lena as "Leh-na" or "Lay-na". I'd use it. No, it's not too short to stand on its own (says the person with a two syllable name ending in "a" :P)

How was it pronounced? I don't like it pronounced LEE-na, but I like it pronounced LAY-na. I think it's nice enough on its own.
I prefer LEE-nah, personally.
It's a little boring, in my honest opinion. I used to like it but I grew out out of it. It's pretty, I suppose, but it doesn't impress me. I don't think it's too short to stand on its own.
I love it, especially as a nickname for Magdalena.
I quite like it, I've been thinking about it recently. I don't know if it's the case but my impression is that it's a more common name in the US than it is here in Australia so to me it's very fresh =) I think it can stand on its own.
