[Opinions] Re: Births!
Can't believe I'm saying this, but Phoenix ("Nixi") is so darn cute! I never would have thought of that. I like Jasper and am surprised by the "proper" spelling of Elena paired with Maree. Are they naming her after someone (and thus using the variant spelling)?

Yes Maree is a family name, there is an aunt on my sister in laws side, and it is her sisters middle name spelt that way.The spelling makes me twitch a little on the inside and the others are right with it being common in Australia.

JessaRose is in Australia and Maree is a pretty common spelling here. I'd say almost as common as Marie. I dislike the spelling (as a mn Marie myself, and a name nerd) but I wouldn't blink seeing it used by people here.

Interesting. I've only seen it once in my entire life (Virginia, US) and it was the mn of a girl in one of my dd's classes in elementary school. Definitely NOT common around here at all (although pretty common as a mn).

I feel like I always need to defend Maree on this board! It is legit in Aus.My mum's mn is Maree - Margot Maree. I think her dad forgot what his wife wanted for the middle name and just put down 'Maree'. Similiar story for my aunt, who was supposed to be Julie Anne but ended up with 'Julianne'. Lol, grandfather was a bit of a joker when it came to names.
