My student Emmanuel's nn in Spanish is Mane (MAH nay), and this English only speaking classmates and teachers started calling him Manny. I guess that's better than them continuing to call me Mane. (one did in kindergarten, not realizing it was a nn, not a term of endearment) I prefer it as a nn.
