[Opinions] Owen, Scarlett and Emmett
What are your thoughts on the names Owen, Scarlett and Emmett? Not together as a sibset, obviously Scarlett and Emmett wouldn't work but just on their own?
I've recently found myself loving Owen. For some reason I always thought it was popular, but I've just searched the popularity charts for where I live and it isn't in the top 100 at all and hasn't been for the past few years. So I'm now liking it even more.
I quite like Scarlett but I feel like it might get mixed reactions on this board for some reason. It is quite popular too.
Emmett is one I sometimes love and sometimes hate. I love the way it looks and it seems so strong. Then sometimes I think of the way it sounds EM-it and it just feels weird to me. Does anyone else get that or is it just me?

Owen and Emmett... my friend had two boyfriends at once with these names.
Emmett I can't really fathom. I want to like it, since it's a boy version of my name, but it just doesn't make sense to me. Owen's nice enough, very dependable... neo-rustic.
Scarlett's a cool name. I'm glad it's getting popular. It's tough and pretty at the same time.

I like Emmett, it's not my usually style of name at all but it appeals to me. Maybe because I seem to be hearing a lot of Back to the Future references lately.
Scarlett sounds trashy to me. I'm not sure why, maybe because it rhymes with "harlot" or maybe it's because of The Scarlet Letter, but I've never been able to get behind it. I also don't like Charlotte.
Owen is very popular in my area, and I work with children so I hear it a lot. I absolutely hate it, it's one of those names that sounds squishy to me. That probably doesn't make sense to anyone else, but it's similar to Josh and Toby, gross, squishy names.

I like Owen a lot. It seems like such a classic name but still sounds like it could be a little boy.
I agree with you on Emmett, it is on my list of names and I do like the feeling of the name. I imagine it helonging to a really honest and kind man that everyone loves and respects. However personally I could not imagine saying Em-it multiple times a day as a mother. The sound of it on a consistent basis just seems odd. Maybe because it sounds like a frog's sound? Ribbet Ribbet! Nice name just not practical for me
For Scarlet I can not get the image of Scarlet Johannsen out of my mind. It seems like an awful lot of name for a little girl to live up to. Also I think every reference to Scarlet that I know of is quite sexualized so I would'nt want to put that on my daughter.

I've liked Owen for quite some time, despite its rising popularity. It's my favorite type of boys name- soft but still distinctly masculine.
I also like Scarlett. It seems glamorous to me.
Emmett isn't one I particularly care for. I just find it to be lacking something. It's missing that special spark.

I really like Scarlett. I'm not sure if my preferred spelling is Scarlet or Scarlett, though. Maybe with just one t? Either way, I really like the sound of it, and it has a pretty imagery in my mind.
Emmett is pretty cool. I quite like the sound of it, but it does seem quite trendy. Owen, though, I have such mixed feelings about. I mean, it's not a bad name at all. I understand why it would appeal to people. But I'm not a big fan of the sound of it, and it kind of sounds 'grumpy' to me, not sure why.

I used to think Owen was just meh. Then I met one and he was great. The more I got to know him and the more I said the name, the more it grew on me. I am firmly on the Owen train, now.
Scarlet > Scarlett. And I quite like Scarlet, but not enough to use it. It's so red and smoky and sexy. It also doesn't lend itself to any good nn's. Someone here once mentioned Scottie as a nn, though.
Emmett isn't my style. It sounds weird and I have strong redneck associations to it. It's so backwoods. It sounds unintelligent. Twins Emmett and Dwight failed English for the forth time and no one was surprised since their father was also their grandfather, uncle, and brother.

Owen is a fantastic name. It's very strong and handsome. Scarlett is beautiful and sweet, but also strong. Emmett, I don't really like.
