[Opinions] Re: Golden Tate
Living in the Pacific Northwest (U.S.) I can't help but think immediately of Golden Tate, the Seattle Seahawk. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Tate He is named after his father, Golden Tate, Jr., making him a "III." I always thought how lucky he was to be such a good athlete. With a name like that if he didn't excel at something his name would be not fun.So, if you've got a crystal ball and know your bundle of joy will excel at something, then maybe it's OK. Even then, this still sounds weird, "This is my daughter Golden Evancho. She is an operatic genius." Or, "This is Golden Einstein. He is failing all his classes right now because he's such a genius at physics. But one day he'll astonish you." Of course, there's more to life than impressing others with some kind of skill. Inner beauty counts too. But with a name that sets up expectations it would make life easier to outwardly live up to them in some way.
