[Opinions] Hark & Hamnet?
I recently saw a picture of Hark Hatfield, and it got me thinking on it as a name. What do you think of it?Also, what do you think of Hamnet? Too close to Hamlet?

Hark is very daytime soap; never heard of Hark Hatfield and he might be quite different but that's what I think of.Hamnet and Hamlet both have a major disadvantage: Ham. It renders them unusable in the extreme.

Hark sounds to me like you are about to make a declaration. For me, that's a negative. Interesting, though.Hamnet is cool. Very close to Hamlet, but I'd say it could still be usable. Ham is a fun nickname.

I kind of like Hark. It's distracting to me as a name because it makes my ears perk forward, so it makes me think about what a name becomes when it's a word that tells you to do something. My little dog Che's name is like this, and it's true that every time you say it it sounds a bit like "Hey!" and he looks at you with just an exclamation point in his face. Stimulating.I've played with Hamnet before. Never felt any urge to shortlist it. I think Hamlet would be kind of a cool name, TBH. It means a town! Hmmm.

Hark - Objectively, in terms of "listen" or "attend to", I can think of Hark as a "virtue name", though I can't say it really feels, to me, like something to call a personHamnet - I like this; has a kind of funky, spunky feel mixed with seriousness, if that makes any sense. It's close enough in sound to Hamlet that people will probably think of Hamlet and Shakespeare, even if they don't know of Shakespeare's son, but I don't think that closeness makes it at all unusable.

Don't really like the sound of Hark. It's a nice word and all, but it isn't that attractive sounding to me. Like someone heaving.I loooooove Hamnet. It is very close to Hamlet, but I don't think Hamnet is particularly usable anyway. But it's pretty much the warmest, cuddliest, medieval feast having ish name ever. One of my favorites.
