[Opinions] Re: Tabitha
in reply to a message by Sara Ruth
I like Tabitha; I've never known one either; and I prefer the lighter-sounding Talitha. The associations are good (women's education!) and it's more popular and so more familiar where I live. Also, lacks the cat connection, which might or might not be a good thing. I have a dark fantasy about sisters, Katharine and Tabitha, known as Kitty and Tabby.

I like the name Talitha too. I knew one little girl with this name - in Papua New Guinea. Her family pronounced the name tuh-LEE-thuh, with the emphasis on the middle syllable. BtN shows the emphasis on the 1st syllable - how would you pronounce it?
Thanks! It's interesting that the Afrikaans and Papua New Guinea pronunciations seem to be very similar. Just a coincidence I'm sure but interesting nonetheless.
