I think Gertrude is ugly in English. It'd be pleasant and bright if it were ghehr-TROO-duh, but GURTrood is just really ugly sounding. It sounds like rude and intrude and protrude and crude, and ... Gurr. It's so ugly, it makes me think that it's one of those hipster names that only seems cool because it IS ugly.

Trudy is dated like Judy is dated - but with a quality similar to Lisa or Trixie, sort of flimsy. It's alright in real life as a person's name, but has no appeal to me personally.
