[Opinions] Shelby
What do you think of the name Shelby? Good name? Don't care for it? Do you see it as being a true unisex name, or more male/female? Do you have any impressions on the name?

I don't consider it a "bad" name, but I don't care for it. I do categorize it as "unisex" and certainly wouldn't balk to see it on a boy, but I feel it will generally be perceived as feminine these days. My only associations with the name are Reba McEntire's son, the sister of a boy I liked in school, and the character of Shelby in "Steel Magnolias".

I find Shelby to be very bland. It isn't a bad name, but it lacks the zest of some other names. I see it as female, but mainly because I have only seen it on girls.

I really like Shelby for a girl! Spelt Shelbie

I think of it as pretty unisex. I don't like it, it reminds me of shellfish.

I don't like it. I don't even know why…I just don't like the sound I guess. It sounds a little ditzy or something. I imagine it making a better name for a dog than a person. I don't hate it or anything, it's just not my thing. As far as it being unisex…I think the girls have taken this one. A boy named Shelby in this day and age could probably get teased over it.

I went to school with a girl named Shelby and she was a foo foo princessy type. That is what this name makes me think of.

This was the one name that my husband really liked that I really hated. I can't say why I hate it, exactly, I just do. I like Shelley just fine, and Shelby is the same general style as Ashley and Courtney, which I also like. Shelby is just irritating to me.
It's all girl to me.
