Wdyt of the name Maurie (MAR-ee) on a girl? And how would you spell a name to be pronounced that way? Struggling_______________________________________

I think you would have to go Marrie. If you do just Mari, it could be confused with Mary, and any involvement of a "u" in the name is going to lead people's minds straight to Povich ;-) Truth be told the Maury show is one of my truest guilty pleasures, so I do have some fondness for the name :p but not something any little girl needs to be associated with, heh. ETA- well, looky there....it appears as though Mari is a legit name with the spelling you seek. I feel as though I have to endorse it now...

ok wait does the first syllable rhyme with star or more? if it's like star, that's a tough one, because most of the spellings make it look like it's supposed to be Marie...Marrie? No. Mawrie? Mahrie? Mahry? Oh dear. Oh! Mari! yes, I like that. If it's like the male name Maury (like Povich) then I think Maurie would work well. Or Morrie! Cute. Morrey? hm. Morrie is sweeter, but Morrey is more unisexy-chic.

Maury is a boys' name, and it's the name of the host of a very awful talk show by the same name (they don't have it where I live, but I've seen it on YouTube).

The sound of MAR-ee is pretty. Maury/Maurie is too closely associated with the trashy television show, though. And I wouldn't automatically pronounce it the way you're going for.Mari might be the best option. Marri might work too.

If you live in America I would reconsider Maury due to the trashy talk show of the same name (popular for DNA testing). The way you are pronouncing it could also be spelled Mari... I've heard Mariana pronounced "mar ee on uh" so Mari could work for "mar ee" I guess.
