[Opinions] Blake and Evander
I haven't liked many boys names for a while but these two caught my imagination today. what do you think of them? Seperately, not as a sibset. Is Evander too out there as a first name? Is Blake too preppy and trendy? Any thoughts welcome

Blake is nice. Not preppy and trendy to me, but just a nice handsome name.
Evander is sort of weird to me!

I like them both. I don't think Evander is too out there, but I'll admit it still makes me think of Holyfield and the whole disturbing ear drama. Otherwise though, I think it's nice, uncommon but not unheard of...he could always fall back on plain old Evan if he thought Evander to be too much. Blake was my great uncle's name, and since he'd be well into his eighties now (RIP, Uncle Blake), I don't see it as trendy at all, nor do I see it as preppy, since he was not that at all. He was handsome and gregarious, so that's how I see the name.

I don't like Blake. It sounds flaky and preppy. Evander is nice. I prefer just Evan, but Evander is a bit more interesting and unusual.

Evander is a great alternative to Alexander / Xander. Plus, the nn possibilities...Blake is going to be 'trendy' for a while...there's a NBA in his mid-20's with that name, so any kid named Blake won't have a problem. :)

Evander is in fact one of my two favorite boys' names, but I don't care for Blake. I guess I can see how it could be considered preppy and trendy, but to me it's too obviously over-masculine. But then, it's not really horrible. Not as bad as some other obviously over-masculine names.Evander, though, that strikes the right balance. Masculine without being overly so. It's underused, but not "out there", as most people have heard it, and underused is a good thing.

I really like them both. Blake is trendy, but not too trendy and it's not preppy at all. And Evander isn't that weird. I'd say most people has heard of it and knows how to spell it, so that's good.

Blake is becoming a more and more popular female name. I never really liked Blake very much, so this bit of information doesn't bother me but it may you. Either way, not a fan. I find it insubstantial. On a male, it makes me think of puppy-dog people. You know, the kind of person thats likeable but an idiot. On a girl it makes me think of a snob, sort of "Mean Girls" material.I like Evander. I'm sure you will get Evander Holyfield comments, but really I don't think thats bad. You also have the nicknames Van and Andy with it, which I don't love but you might.
