[Opinions] Re: Heather or Cecily??
in reply to a message by Bee
I don't like either, but if I have to choose, I will go with Cecily. Heather was formerly massively popular. I've known nine of them, one in my family. Okay, it's true that it has at this time dropped like a stone (predictably) and there aren't that many babies being named Heather at this time. HOWEVER, that does NOT mean that Heather is "refreshing." All those Heathers who were named twenty to forty years ago are still around and are in the prime of life. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's known multiple Heathers. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is sick of hearing it. And that doesn't change when the Heather is a newborn. She's still at this time just another Heather. Hearing the name on a newborn still elicits an eye-roll from me because I am just sick and tired of that name and don't need to know another one!Now eighty years from now, when all those Heathers are dead, it will be a different story. But unless you can put off having your baby for that length of time, I can't endorse Heather.Heather isn't even pretty, so I never understood its popularity to begin. I don't think that Cecily is pretty, either, but at least there aren't hoards of Cecilys running around, Cecilys whose parents followed the herd during the 70s, 80s, and 90s. So Cecily it is!Wow, I just realized that I'm just as sick of Heather as I am of Sarah.
