[Opinions] Re: Josephine? (and some others)

Gilbert as in Gilbert Blythe? Great choice. I love the name Gilbert with the cool nn Gil.Josephine for Jo March is awesome. She was such a great character in American literature. Love it. My mother used to want to have four girls and name them Meg, Jo, Beth & Amy. (Although, I don't like the nn Josie because I think of Josie Pye, also from Anne of Green Gables).Laura and Almanzo also. Just don't call him Manly!
Lottie is cute.Dicken sounds awkward, since his last name was Dickens. I think Dickens could be a cool mn to honor that author but wouldn't use it as a first name. (Also, his friends might give him the nn of Dick).

Dicken sounds awkward, since his last name was Dickens....I don't actually like Charles Dickens all that much. Dicken is my favourite character in Frances Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden. I'm a kidlit person--all the names, excepting Thursday, come from children's books.Array

You know, I've never read the Secret Garden, but was just reading "A Little Princess" to my daughter. I'll have to put that one on my To-Read List!

Yes, do!I also like her Little Lord Fauntleroy. If you ever want more suggestions for books, do ask--I've never grown out of classic children's books, heh.Array
