It's OK. Even though I generally like timeless names, for some reason I can't really warm up to Samuel. And completely illogically, the nickname Sam seems trendy to me.

I dislike Samantha, but I dislike Samuel much more. I find it slimy, ingratiating and obstinate, for some reason.

Can't stand it. Not only because I have three ex boyfriends called Samual but also because there are so many of them. It's in the same basket as Joshua and Benjamin. Nice enough names just really common and overdone

I like it. If it weren't for its popularity I'd probably use it.

I've never liked Samuel because of the "myoo" in the middle. Horrible, ugly, mucousy sound.I lovelovelove Sam, but any Sam of mine would just be Sam. None of the longer forms appeal to me.

I love it and the nickname Sam. It's one of my favorite names. Got a nineteenth century vibe that I like.

I don't love it, but I don't terribly dislike it, either. It is a very strong, and classic boys name to me. I like the nn Sam or Sammy, and I do know a little Samuel that is absolutely adorable, so now that is automatically what I think of for Samuel.

I love it, and the nicknames Sam and Sammy.

I think Samuel is masculine, handsome and timeless. Some may say it's boring, but like I said, I think it's timeless. I love the nn Sam as well, actually I love just Sam as a full name too.

I like it. It's solid and strong and even though it's not uncommon I don't tire of it. I don't however like Sam, and I don't think it's terribly avoidable either.

I like it, mainly because of the nickname Sam.

I don't like the full name Samuel very much. It makes me think of an irritable man with a too-long white mustache and eyebrows and nineteenth-century mores. I think it's mainly the mewl sound that bugs me, though. If it were pronounced "Samwel" instead of "Samyooel" I would like it tons more.I do like Sam, though. It's very friendly and smart seeming.
