Even though it was popular beyond belief at one time, it isn't now. I'm not sure popularity should be a concern in naming anyway. If you love a name, go for it.

My stepdaughter is Jennifer. My brother's wife's sister had a Jennifer. In addition, Jennifer (or Jenifer in some cases) is the name many of my friends chose for their daughters. (My children were born in the late '70s/early '80s.)

I don't care for it. It seems very dated to me. It was too recently trendy in the 1980s. Several friends had older sisters with that name. Jen isn't bad, but I don't care for the -ifer sound.

Nope, not too popular at all. It's not the 80s anymore, so you're good.

Jennifer isn't popular for the babies born today, but I believe it was the number one baby name for girls for like 2 decades in the States (1970s and 1980s). This makes the name feel dated. Most Jennifers are in their 40s, 30s or late 20s. I can't even count how many Jennifer/ Jenny/ Jenni/Jenns I knew growing up!

Not at this time, but it has been too popular. Way, way, way too popular.

Look up the word "popular" in the dictionary, and next to it, it'll say "Jennifer".

With my student population- Hispanics in a small, rural school- Yes, it's still too popular. I had 3 different girls with my name out of a list with about 10 girls students on it. Nathan is as bad for the group- the third boy starts next year, and about a dozen male students I've worked with. It works, and the popularity isn't what it used to be. It's up to you if you want Jennifer or Genevieve, or Jenifry.

I actually love the name Jenny :) It's a bit of a guilty pleasure!

I don't see anything wrong with using Jennifer; given the fact that it is not popular among baby girls, she would probably be the only Jennifer in her class!

I feel like I would really love the name Jennifer if it wasn't for its 70s/80s popularity; go for it!

It's not popular among babies, but it's insanely popular on those born in the 70's, 80's and Early 90's. I knew a slew of Jennifer's growing up so it seems fairly boring to me.

What about Genevieve with the nn of Jennie?

It doesn't seem to be popular for baby girls but its popularity in most other groups more than makes up for that. I never really liked the name, mainly because of the fer ending.

It could be a really good middle name. I find Jennifer in the middle can really warm up combos. Yeah, it's a little bit dated, but if it's an honouring name and you like it our front, it's hardly the worst great-grandmotherly name to have!

Jennifer screams 70s and 80s as a name and it is not so popular now.
