It must be me, I must have really sloppy speech. I'd say Mah Ree Ta at first, but if I were talking fast and the name was familiar, I think it'd come out sounding very similar to Merida. Slightly softer D sound.

It depends on how you pronounce Merida. Saying Marita sloppily would be mur-EE-da, but Merida would be MER-i-da based on how it was pronounced in "Brave".

I say Merida too. And I'm the one that says "winter" with a "t", always. These days, I preface "winter" with "un-ending".
