[Opinions] Nickname Ideas!
I'm in developing a new story with a steam punk genre where the majority of people have powers. The people with powers are called Gifted, and those who are powerless are called Lesser. Being born with two powers is rare and those people are called Duo-Gifted, and the most rarest is being born with the power to give/take powers are called Prophets. The story takes place on the Harmony Islands and Tremaine, both are kingdoms and being close trading partners. The character names are: Avalana- Princess of Harmony and Duo-Gifted, cryokinetic and pyrokinetic
Trindale- Queen of Hamrony, Avalana's older sisters, and Lesser
Elva- Harmony citizen and Gifted, electrokinetic
Patrika "Rika"-Tremaine nobility and Gifted, electrokinetic
Pethalia- Princess of Tremaine and Gofted, floralkinetic
Cortiana-Princess of Tremaine, Pethalia's older sister, and Gifted, psychic- telepathic/telekinetic
Fauneta-Princess of Tremaine, Pethalia's younger sister, and Gifted, changeling- mammals
Joanalie- Tremaine citizen and Lesser Dasley- Harmony citizen and Lesser
Galliam- Harmony citizen, Dasley's older brother, and Gifted, metalkinetic (deceased)
Silveren- Harmony citizen, Prophet, and was a girl named Aga What nicknames would you give them based off their names and other things! Also leave ideas for names that fit in their world to help create other side characters!

Nicknames, I think, are integral to making a story and close, informal interactions feel natural. Even for the nobility and royalty. I'm only mentioning this because I read a suggestion to use only full names, which I don't agree with. :P Hope this helps.Avalana - Ava, Avie, Lana.
Trindale - Trin, Trinny.
Elva - Seems unnecessary to nickname her, but probably El.
Patrika - Trik, Trika, Rika.
Pethalia - Thalia, Thali, Lia.
Cortiana - Cort, Tiana, Ana, Tia.
Fauneta - Faun, Etta (if pronounced fawn-ET-ta instead of fawn-EE-ta)
Joanalie - Joan, Jo, Lee.Dasley - Das.
Galliam - Gal, Liam.
Silveren - Silva, Ren, Silv.

You'd probably get better responses to your story posts in the writing forum :) Also, I think for the royalty characters, you should stick with full names. Seems more fitting for their formal situation because nns are informal. And since you're also creating names for the series, it'd be best to stick with the full names so your readers learn to associate the name with the character and to prevent any possible confusion. That's my opinion on it at least.

Thanks for the advice, but I just put nicknames for any causal interactions between just give a more realist feeling to it!

My nickname instincts are pretty dull I'm afraid.
Avalana - Avi, Lana
Trindale - Trin
Elva- El
Patrika - looks like you've already got a nickname for that one
Pethalia - Peth
Cortiana - Cort, Tia
Fauneta - Nettie, Faun
Joanalie - Jona
Dasley - is this DAZ-lee or DAYS-lee? Either Daz or Daze in each case
Galliam - Galli
Silveren - Sil, Silv

Either one works, but I usually say DAYS-Lee! Sil and Avi are cute, thanks!
