[Opinions] Avielle
I'm really crushing on this name lately. I love Arielle and Ava (but can't use Ava because it's my friends kid's name) and this seems like a nice cross between the two. Also I think it sounds so pretty. I say it with a short A sound - Ah-vee-elle (like Arielle but with a v, or a like in hat) What do you think of Avielle?
How would you pronounce it?
What middle name would you pair with it?
What do you think of Avielle Carys?
Do you like it as a little sister to Xanthe & Sylvie?
TIA!

What do you think of Avielle?I think it looks pretty and sounds pretty the way I say it. It has the sound of a Biblical name, like the angels you know? I think that's a popular sound. Though on first look I do want to say Arielle, being as it's only one letter off, and I think that'll be a problem an Avielle will have her whole life. How would you pronounce it?ah-vee-EL which I think is pretty. If it's said AY-vee-el, I don't think it's very pretty. What middle name would you pair with it?I think just about anything could go with it, it's got that sound. What do you think of Avielle Carys?I think it looks and sounds good and flows well and is pretty.Do you like it as a little sister to Xanthe & Sylvie?I think Xanthe, Sylvie, and Avielle work as a sibset.

Yeah, I don't like Ay-vee-elle at all, so I'm pleased to see everyone who has responded so far saying they would prn it with a short Ah- sound.Valid point about it being confused with Arielle. I think that would be more of a problem if Arielle were a lot more common than it is, but I'm sure it will happen. I've spent my whole life correcting people and spelling my name, and I've survived, so honestly it doesn't worry me too much :)Thanks for the feedback!

Avielle is gorgeous imo! I knew an Asriel and an Ariel but I always liked the -elle ending. And Ava has always been a favorite. I can't think of any other way to peonounce it that sounds nice. Avielle Elane
Avielle Selene
Avielle Renee
Avielle Elise
Avielle Lynae
Avielle Delilah Pretty, but maybe a bit over the top for me. Carys has never been a fav, and it seems a bit too out there as a pair with Avielle. Xanthe, Sylvie, Avielle. Cute! You could call her Avi as a nickname so all the names end with the -ee sound. But then people might hear Abby. Oh well. I think it's worth it anyhow. Hope I have been helpful! :)

Thanks for the feedback!I like Avielle Renee, but most of the other combos have too much -el sound for me.Carys is actually not that out there where I grew up, so it doesn't feel weird to me! All in what you're used to I guess! I just really like the way the strong sounds in Carys balance out the soft sounds in Avielle.Glad you like the sibset, and thanks for the combo suggestions!

I remember after the Newtown school shooting when they'd run down the list of victims, one of the kids who died was a girl named Avielle. That's the only time I've ever heard the name. It doesn't have a bad sound, but it does seem mashed-up to me. I'd say it the way you describe it, as that's how it was pronounced on the news.

That's the first time I heard it too. It stuck somewhere in the back of my head, and popped up a few days ago. Couldn't remember where I'd first heard it till I googled it. I like that the Avielle Foundation (named after her) looks into violence and mental health, as I feel like this is one of the important areas that really needs to be addressed to help prevent repeat occurrences of these kinds of tragedies. It was used on 12 girls born in 2012 in the US, so it's definitely very rare but not completely unheard of.Thanks for the feedback!

I have never heard of Avielle but I'm like you, I like both Arielle and Ava. I think it's a very pretty compromise =) I think she would make a fantasic little sister to Xanthe and Sylvie!

Thanks for the feedback! Avielle was used on 12 girls born in 2012, so its definitely rare :) I feel like that makes it kind of even with Xanthe (less than 5), and Sylvie (less rare with 184 born, but still out of the Top 1000)
Glad you like the sibset!
