[Opinions] Thoughts on Klaus
My current boyfriend is determined to name his first son Klaus. I'm not against this name, as I do like it and I love that it is not common. Something holds me back from absolutely loving it though, but not sure what.I keep thinking of pairing it with something to create an initial nickname. (I do like initial nicknames.) So K.J. or K.C. are my thoughts now. Opinions? Middle name pairings (he is half Chinese and said he wants Chinese middle names, but hasn't given any serious examples)? Any (very German sounding) suggestions you think we also might like?

I love Klaus! I would be enamoured with seeing a real baby named that!

Klaus Conrad? Klaus Johann?I can't say it moves me much. My SIL had a Klaus boyfriend once and the friendship still continues although they've both moved on: the only problem that I have is his messy eating habits and advanced halitosis, but that's not linked to the name!

I agree with the others, I like Niklaus with the nn Klaus, but so much Klaus on it's own. Another one I love Alaric. Alaric Jun has a nice flow to it for the nn AJ.

I don't dislike Klaus but I live in Germany at the moment and the name is quite dated here (it's mostly seen on men in their 40s and 50s+). If you live in the US that shouldn't really be a problem though. As an alternative, how about using Niklaus or Nicklaus with Klaus as a nickname?

I love Klaus! But I think I'd use Niklaus or Nicklaus with Klaus as a nickname.
Another "very German" name that I love is Rudolf, is it actually workable in real life? Probably not. But I can dream.
Klaus Jian / Jiang
Klaus Huan / Huang
Klaus Hui

I knew a Rudolph growing up. Actually I didn't know his real name for a while because everyone called him Rudy. So in my mind it's workable. Not sure how I feel about it (the guy was kind of a nerd/"loser").

I used to hate Klaus because it seemed to be a vague villain's name. It held no real substance or interest for me until I met one. Now I love it! Niklaus with the nn Klaus is how I prefer it.
