[Opinions] Felix
I somewhat jokingly asked my husband his thoughts about this name the other day and ever since he has been really excited about it! I did a little looking around and saw it was fairly common in Europe and was ranked in the US, but I can't recall ever meeting anyone with this name (with the exception of PewDiePie). What are y'alls thoughts on Felix? Cute? Love it? Dislike it? Just curious :)♥ Rate my list ♥

It's ok, one I would never use myself though. It makes me think of a very lucky guy.

I think of a cat first off.Second, I think of the one Felix I have met - a Spaniard who I worked with for a summer and never really got a good impression. Of course, they were a small group of Europeans working at an American summer camp, and half were from Spain. It could have just been the fact that they spent the summer so far from home, but it was the Spaniards who never really meshed with the rest of us. There was a girl named Sophia and I really dislike that name due to the association as well.

I love it! I think it's so cute and spunky, not super common and not unheard of...all things so hard to come by with a classic boy name. The cat association does not bother me at all...that was way before my time, and in any event, I love cats ;). Definitely in my top three if we have another son. It was on our list when we named him, but ultimately decided to go with a family name. Still love it =)

I have loved Felix since junior high (in the 90s) and still do. If my last name didn't start with F, I would definitely have lobbied for Felix. There are some alliterations I can handle but F___ F___ is too tongue twister-y for me. Anyway, I am in full support of Felix and imagine him with tattered overalls and cupping a frog in his hands.

Can't say I mind it, and it does come across as cheerful and friendly. I'd rather use Felicity for a girl than the rather feline Felix for a boy.

I'm not a Felix fan. It reminds me of "feel licks" and cats and just sounds slimy.

Felix is awesome. I prn it closer to fee-lix so I don't hear "feel licks" at all. I has a cat connotation here but most people even my age don't know of Felix the cat. I've never met anyone named Felix that I can think of right now. It's been popping up on a lot of shows as the gay best friend.

LOVE the name Felix! As does my DH! Not popular here in Australia and I know so many people say, "It's a cat's name", because they think of Felix the cat, but that doesn't bother me at all.

I recognize it as a classic name, but I just don't like the sound of it at all. I don't actually hear "feel licks" when I hear it used as a name, but my emotional reaction to the name is mostly based on association with "feel licks." There's also an association with feline (there was a cat named Felix at one place where I worked for ten years), and the fussy guy from Odd Couple. I think it sounds wimpy and indoorsy and ... well, annoying. Either that or, on a US kid, it's kind of a wannabe-European, football (soccer) star type name like Didier or Fabio. I overheard someone calling a 5-year-old Felix and my reaction was ... chagrin? It's so feely and licky and ... not masculine, to my ears. I know this opinion does not help you, but thanks for the opportunity to comment.

I really like Felix! A good name with a good meaning. A little too common here though. I associate it with Prince Felix of Denmark (http://kongehuset.dk/english/the-royal-house/prince-joachim-and-princess-marie/hh-prince-felix/hh-prince-felix).
