It makes me think "coal town," as well as "colt." And it comes out as Col'n in a lot of American accents - not really "KOL-tun," although "KOL-tun" still sounds Dallasy. So it seems self-consciously rural/"country" to me, yeah.
Trashy, no. It's sorta suburban like Bently or Cooper, only more countrified. "Trashy" guy names, to me - that is, in the style of Nevaeh, flipping the bird to mainstream taste and "knowledge" - are more eccentric, not-good-ole-boy surnamey names. Like Blade and Shiloh and Zion and Shea and Track and Adonis and Gauge and Crew and Legend.
