[Opinions] Re: Aria, Aribeth, Ariel
in reply to a message by JessicaLeigh
I love Aria, as it is simple and pretty. It is modern, yet classical because of the reference. However, George R. R. Martin has made it unusable to me. He spells it differently, of course, but the pronunciation is that same. Positively, though, she's a great character. Then again, he's not done writing the books and torturing his characters. So there is danger here.
I like Ariel very much on either men or women, although I prefer Arielle on a woman. I think it you are Jewish, Ariel works as a first name on a son. If you are not Jewish, I would restrict it to the middle name, because the general populace tends to assume it is a female name.
