[Opinions] Agatha?
Hello! My husband and I are huge fans of Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie. For our son who was born in December 2012 we chose the name Arthur Nicholas, our girl option was Agatha Marianne. We are now expecting our daughter and still not sure anymore with Agatha, because it would give them the same initials and through the A and TH a very similar sound. And we are not sure about the middle name. We still like Marianne but not that much anymore. There is also the point that my sister named her daugther Marianne and I don't want to name our daughter the same as hers. I hope you can help us!

Are you mainly looking for middle name suggestions, then? Or both first and middle?I love Agatha! It used to be on my list back in the day for our son (he's almost 6 now... and his mn is also Nicholas!), but my husband disliked it so I've only been able to like it in my head. :) I'd love to know there was a little Agatha out there. If your niece is named Marianne, I wouldn't use Marianne for your daughter's middle name unless your really wanted to honor someone with it too. But since you say you're not too keen on it anymore, I'd definitely look for something else. What about:
Agatha Rosemary
Agatha Margery
Agatha Violet
Agatha June
Agatha Molly
Agatha Emily

You could name her Christie.Right? Maybe Christie Agatha.Or you might call her after one of your favorite female AC characters.

I think Agatha Marianne is lovely. I love Agatha Christie too! What about Agatha Jane (after Jane Marple)?

Agatha is uglier than homemade sin. Avoid it like the plague it is.Name her Christie.

I think Arthur and Agatha are adorable together. I think it's cute for two siblings to have names that start with the same letter---more than that, and it gets a bit much, but two is cute. And the repeated TH sound in them along with the same initial letter makes them particularly adorable. I say go for it.I can see why you wouldn't want Marianne as a middle name if it's the name of your niece, but I have no other suggestions for you as I'm not into making combos.

If you love the name Agatha, then you could still use it. My only other suggestion would be to use Agatha as the mn and get a new name for the fn.

I think Agatha is great and doesn't sound at all similar to Arthur. Agatha Marianne was lovely, but seeing as how someone in the family has the same name and you are not to keen on it anyway, I would definitely choose something else.I don't really know what other names you had as contenders to give you usable advice on middle names.

Agatha Mary Clarissa? Or you could tweak Clarissa to Clara or Clare; Claire-Marie Agatha, since Marie-Claire is too magaziney, might do quite well.

We don't like the name Christie. Christine would be better, but still not the right one.
I also like Clarissa, but not in combination with Agatha. When I told my husband this morning he said, he would also like Clarissa as the first name. So Arthur & Agatha or Arthur & Clarissa?

Clarissa would solve the matching initials problem, and also make Arthur look more contemporary. Arthur and Agatha look like time travel back to the 1890s, but Clarissa has lovely, edgy modernity - Clarissa Marianne would please me greatly!

I think Arthur and Agatha are adorable together. Maybe just Agatha Mary. So understated and pretty. But I do like Agatha Marianne.

My husband now made the suggestions Agatha Marielle, Agatha Caroline oder Clarissa Maelle. I'm not sure about Marielle and Maelle, sounds very french to me, but what do you think about Agatha Caroline? Together with Arthur Nicholas?
