[Opinions] birth announcement
One of my former coworkers just became a grandma (again) to a girl named Ember Ruby. Ember isn't so strange to me anymore since I've seen people here say they like it. But it's close to Amber, making this name very jewel inspired.

To be honest I kind of like it, but more in a GP sort of way. It is just so...red.

I quite like it, and actually, I prefer Ember to Amber.

I like Ember. I love Amber, but of course it became too popular and is on its way to being dated, if it isn't already. Ember is a good alternative. I love Ruby, what a great middle name.

Sounds like Ember Ooby. Also sounds like she's on fire. Thumbs down.

Its also a bit too, fiery. Ember makes me think of hot coals and Ruby the bright red of the flame. Its a bit too cartoony for me.

I see what you mean, and it's better than my first thought, which was about the hot red glow of a dying fire. And Ember and Ruby run together awkwardly. Not a choice I'd endorse.

Not my cup of tea. Ember reminds me of fire and ashes, and I don't like the sound (don't like Amber either). Ruby is not one of my favourites, it's ok, but nothing more. And I don't like the two r's in the middle.

In thanks to its word definition, Ember reminds me of burning, glowing coal and wood. When I associate it with such things, there is a certain magnetism and charm. To casually see it being used, though, I wouldn't think that the parents used it with that foundation meaning, therefore it isn't as desirable to me.Ruby was a childhood favorite, but I am no longer partial to it. It's rather flat.In the long run, Ember Ruby is a decent name. Congratulations to your former coworkers.

Yeah, it's not bad, but it's a bit matchy. I think I'd like Ruby Ember a bit better just for the sound of it (although it's always hard to say w/o the last name).

Congratulations to your coworker! I'm not a big fan of Ember, though I love the vintage charm or Ruby. Overall, Ember Ruby isn't a bad combination.

My rule is, if one name is a common noun, don't choose a middle or first name that's also a common noun. Ember Ruby sounds like a lipstick color.
