[Opinions] Re: Swedish princesses from Holmfrid (10th century) to Leonore (2014)
in reply to a message by Malin
I feel like Sweden is one monarchy that, despite upheavals in ruling family and other cultures marrying in, has stayed fairly consistent with naming. Kristina and Margareta variants appear from the beginning to the end, with a nice mixture of Scandinavian, Germanic, and Biblical influences. My favorites are Marianne, Ingeborg, Agnes, Magdalena, Eleonora, Lovisa, Josefina, and Dagmar. Princess Madeleine's full name is perfectly elegant, but I don't think of a Swedish princess when I see it because it's so very French. Leonora and Estelle are so adorable! Especially when they're dressed in their little mini national dress costumes. "The secret garden is always open now. Open, and awake, and alive. If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden."
