Well... Ilya is a boy's name, but I guess I could see it on a girl. It's got the -ya ending that would help it seem more girl-ish.
Problems might happen if an Ilya when to a French-speaking country because il y a means 'there is/are..'

I think I like the Ilya spelling better. Ilia as too many straight upward letters in a row, I think.
