I know a William who's known as Wim, or perhaps Whim. Not sure. But I don't think much of him, and so I don't like Wim either.
In Dutch, and sometimes in Afrikaans, Wim is pronounced Vim because William is Willem, pronounced Villem, and I don't mind that at all.
