I agree with the taan-dee-weh pronunciation. Thats how I have heard it said, but I'm not sure if the people with the name were Xhosa or not.

Whever they were, they got it right! So, who cares? As far as I know, Thandiwe is used in other Nguni languages as well, as well as by non-Nguni parents.
