[Opinions] Alban?
I was wondering what you would think of meeting a young Alban? I like it a lot though I'm also a big fan of Alan and have a hard time preferring one over the other. But lately I've been digging Alban. So your thoughts? Alan or Alban?

I actually quite like it. It rings trendy (what with the Aldon, Arden, Aidens)... but isn't. However, I do know someone with Albin as a surname, so that was my first thought. In this case, I like Alan better. In fact, I love Alan... since is it so simple and sweet. However, Al-names are not usable in general (to me), because of the inevitable nickname Al.

I love Alban! I would love to meet a baby Alban. I can't imagine my own child having this name, I don't know if I could pull it off but it's a great name. I also really like Alba for a girl.

I love Alban and definitely prefer it to Alan, which is perfectly fine but quite milquetoast when juxtaposed with Alban.

Alban is awfully close to Albus. I might even misread or think the parents miswrote the name. I guess I'd think the parents are either hipsters or big Harry Potter fans but didn't want it to be so obvious that they're HP fans. Alan or Alban? I don't really have a favorite, but Alban does seem 'newer' and have more character than Alan.

Alan feels really dated to me where Alban has no such reference. I love Alban and nn Alby. I like Alvin quite a bit also. Alvin is MORE antiquated than Alan (a dad name) which somehow makes it better timed for a comeback. Alban is Alan and Alvin's cousin who's been living abroad

Nice response. I think Alby just raised my opinion of the name Alban.
And... Alvin will always be a quirky/classy winner in my book.

I think it's really sweet! I prefer Albany myself, but I'd love to meet a little Alban. Alan, while a fine name, feels a little dated to me right now - I seem to see it a lot on men in their 40s or 50s now.

Alan - boring middle-aged man who works in a cubicle
Alban - spunky kid with bedhead
